چکیده

Computed Tomographic Screening for Lung Cancer: Current Practice Patterns at Leading Academic Medical Centers Following thepublicationof theNational LungScreeningTrial (NLST) results,1 several organizations have published clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for lung cancer screening.1-4 These guidelines emphasize the clinical aspects of computed tomographic (CT) screening, such as patient selection criteria, with relatively little attention to technical and logistical considerations. We surveyed leading US academic medical centers (AMCs) to determine current screeningpractices.Wehypothesized that there would be greater uniformity in clinical aspects of screening than in technical and logistical elements.

Low-dose computed tomographic screening for lung cancer.

Low-dose computed tomographic (LDCT) screening is now moving from clinical trials to clinical practice, following the report from the National Lung Screening Trial that LDCT screening for lung cancer can reduce the number of deaths from lung cancer by 20% in current and former smokers, ages 55 to 74 years, with a 30 pack-year smoking history. This article reviews the current evidence for screen...

Computed tomography screening and lung cancer outcomes.

CONTEXT Current and former smokers are currently being screened for lung cancer with computed tomography (CT), although there are limited data on the effect screening has on lung cancer outcomes. Randomized controlled trials assessing CT screening are currently under way. Low-Dose CT Lung Cancer Screening Practices and Attitudes among Primary Care Providers at an Academic Medical Center.

BACKGROUND Low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) screening reduces lung cancer-specific and overall mortality. We sought to assess lung cancer screening practices and attitudes among primary care providers (PCPs) in the era of new LDCT screening guidelines. METHODS In 2013, we surveyed PCPs at an academic medical center (60% response) and assessed: lung cancer screening use, perceived screening...
